Guide & Instructions

Thank you for choosing Flowerly Framed! We are excited to preserve your beautiful blooms and create a unique piece with your sentimental flowers. The final look of the framed flowers largely depends on the condition of your fresh florals. Please read below how to properly care for your bouquet after the event and if you are mailing your florals to us, follow our Step-by-Step Shipping Instructions to ensure that your blooms travel safely and in the best shape possible.

Bouquet Care Guide

Place your blooms back in the water right after your ceremony. Your flowers should be kept in water and safely transferred from the venue to the next location. You also want to re-cut the stems to allow fresh water to penetrate. It is very important to keep your flowers dry at all times — only stems should be wet! We strongly advise not to use any spray or glitter on your flower as water, glitter, and chemicals cause flowers to mold, after which we are unable to preserve them.

As stated in the Purchase Agreement, we are supposed to receive your florals within the first three days following the event. In the meantime, keep your flowers away from direct sunlight, and store them in a cool, dark, dry place. Additionally, consider sending extra flowers or centerpieces as they are often in slightly better shape than the bouquet after the event. Keep in mind that the better your florals look fresh, the better they will look preserved!

Step-by-Step Shipping Instructions

If you are unable to drop off your flowers at our studio, you can mail your flowers to us instead. We highly recommend that you prepare all of the shipping supplies before your wedding day, or if possible, assign this task to your family member/maid of honor since you will most likely be preoccupied with other things after the wedding. To save on the shipping cost, we suggest the Pirate Ship website where you can compare the rates and purchase mailing labels online.

For successful preservation, it is crucial to receive your florals the freshest possible. Ideally, you would ship your flowers the morning after your wedding. However, for weddings that take place on Saturday, flowers should be mailed first thing Monday morning to avoid possible delays and having flowers out of water for a longer period of time.

Please follow the steps below when mailing your florals and make sure to include the completed Mailing Form with your shipment.

Step 1

Place your flowers in a cardboard box. The box should be just slightly larger than your actual grouping of flowers, arrangement, or bouquet.

Step 2

Fill the bottom of the box with either Styrofoam packing peanuts or crumpled newspaper. Make sure that the layered fillers provide enough padding/protection for the flowers. Please do not use bubble wrap, plastic bags, or any plastic products to package your flowers.

Step 3

Secure the stems: Wedding bouquets are usually already tied up nicely. In case your flowers are apart, wrap the stems to keep them together by using cable ties or rubber bands.

Step 4

Protect the stems: Wrap the stems with a moist paper towel to keep the flowers hydrated during transport. Add an additional two layers of paper towel, place it into a ziplock bag, and secure with tape or rubber band. Please note that wet paper towel and plastic bag should ONLY be wrapped around the stems, not the flowers! Your packing materials should be dry all the time. Do not use ice packs as these might cause flowers to mold after which we will be unable to use them.

Step 5

Protect your flowers: Wrap lightly your entire bouquet using large sheets of craft paper or newspaper. Make sure that you don’t break or bend flowers. Place your flowers facing UP in a cardboard box and surround them with paper shipping fillers.

Step 6

Carefully place wrapped flowers inside the cardboard box. Secure the sides by adding more crumpled paper, making sure that flowers are not wobbling/moving inside the box, but neither are squashed. The key is to stabilize the bouquet as much as possible so it will not shift during shipment.

Step 7

Fill the box to the top with the remainder of packing peanuts or crumpled newspaper, making sure you fill the sides of the box with packing material as well, and place the Mailing Form on the top, so that we can properly classify your flowers and avoid any confusion. We catalog all flowers by the date received and your last name.

Step 8

Close the box and seal it securely with the packing tape. Place FRAGILE sticker(s) and indicate THIS SIDE UP on the outside of the box.

Step 9

Mail your flowers to the address provided in the Mailing Form using NEXT-DAY delivery – no signature required. Once shipped, make sure to send us a tracking number to allow us to track your flowers. We will send out an email within 24 hours of receiving your package letting you know the condition your flowers arrived in and what the next steps are. For successful preservation, it is crucial to receive your florals the freshest possible!
